 Introduction
 – who is called Chacham? (Answer) The person who sees the
consequences of his actions. The pasuk in Sefer Yirmiyah (2:19)
 also alludes to this same concept as follows: “know and see ,םירִוּסֲאָה םירִוּבִּדּ יקְֵלֶח רָאְשׁוּ תוּליִכרְוּ ערָָה ןוֹשָׁל רוּסִּא
that your forsaking Hashem is evil and bitter,” meaning, that by
 virtue of knowledge of the Torah (you will understand) what the
end will be of someone who transgresses His Will. Man should בוּתָכַּה םֶהיֵלֲע םַיּקֻיִו .
also paint a picture on his soul as though he physically sees this
 and then most certainly his Yetzer Hara will be beaten because
 of this.

 (6) The essential point that man must understand that the Laveen
and Aseen that are contingent on one’s speech are equivalent in
 status to those Laveen and Aseen that are contingent on man’s
 actions, and are even more stringent than them. For example, if :).'
the Yetzer Hara uses one’s anger as a basis for persuading him
 to go and publicly shame someone, and label him with a bad
reputation, this person should think soulfully that if his Yetzer
 Hara seduced him to go to a brothel, would he listen to him?
 Most certainly this person would angrily berate his Yetzer Hara

 would result in my being disgusting in the eyes of Hashem.”
brother, you should know that the sin of slandering is much more
 serious than this. The Gemara Arachin (15a – in the Mishnah)
 describes this (the consequences of one’s speech) as more serious
than the consequences of one’s actions (one who coerces or
 seduces a woman is fined 50 Shekalim by the Torah, but one

this). So too we find that the decree against our ancestors in the

 Lashon Hara against the Land of Israel. (Midrash Tanchumah,

 (perashat Mehtzorah #2) should constantly appear before your
