THE EFFECTS OF ‘DANCE 11+’ PROGRAMME ON
REDUCING THE RISK OF ANKLE INJURY FOR
COLLEGIATE CONTEMPORARY DANCERS
ABSTRACT
RESEARCH BACKGROUND
‘Dance 11+’ is a neuromuscular training programme that is specifically adapted to
dancing from ‘FIFA 11+’. However, it is uncertain to determine whether participation
in the ‘Dance 11+’ program results in a decrease in the number and severity of injury.
Since ‘FIFA 11+’ effectively reduces the rate of injury at the professional level, it is
anticipated that introducing ‘Dance 11+’ into professional dancers’ exercise can also

Recreation Management 10 collegiate dancers were recruited from the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts.
Department of Sport and Recreation 6 participants were randomly allocated to the ‘Intervention group’ and 4 participants
were assigned to the ‘Control group’. Both groups would go through ‘pre-test’ and
‘post-test’. The tests include the use of hand-held dynamometer for testing of hip
abduction and ankle eversion, single-leg side hop and single-leg hop in stability and
modified-balance error scoring system in balance.

passion for hiking and dancing, which are my habits in dealing with pressure.

programme.
