DRIVERS FOR CHANGE
1. CURRICULUM AND RESEARCH MODELS.-Growth and
changes in curriculum and research will change the
form and function of academic and research
buildings, the inter-disclipinary nature of research
teams and growing emphasis on collocation with
agro-industry partners.
2. TECHNOLOGY- new styles of teaching driven by the
use of technology in the classroom, on line learning,
learning outside the classrooms lead to spatial
changes and buildings being redesigned or replaced
to incorporate new technologies
3. STUDENT POPULATION GROWTH AND DEMOGRAPHY-
enrolment growth will be spatially addressed due to
increasingly easier access to tertiary education, free
tuition and liberal admission policies among sucs.
4. ENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABILITY-Environmental
concerns in relation to carbon emissions, biodiversity,
climate change and the use of energy, water and other
resources will influence campus planning in the
future.
5.COMPETITION FOR STAFF, STUDENTS AND FUNDING-
competition for talent and funding will drive
improvements in the quality of campus experience
through open spaces, services, retail access to
technology, better transport and walkable learning
hubs.
