Some are not moved when they see

raging fires, devastating floods,

changing climates, and barren landscapes.

It is not their problem to fix, they decide.

But as inhabitants of this beautiful, broken world

it has always been our duty to love and care for

our life-giving planet.

We set out on the swirling sea, looking for

relaxation and calmness, a sense of tranquility.

But when we couldn’t see the foaming waves

beneath the bottles and the old balloons,

we plucked them out of the water

and it healed a little.

We don’t all have to do everything,

but what we do each day helps us heal

ourselves and our ailing world.

We’re starting to see the fish and turtles again

and I think they’re healing too.
