has 6 strategic cores where each focus on the important context of
National Higher Education. The 6 strategies are as follows; 1) To
produce quality TVET graduates, 2) strengthen responsive and
sustainable governance,3) enrich talent 4), lead the education system
through TVET4.0, 5) Strengthen industry and community cooperation
and 6) implement applied research and innovation.
To achieve this strategic thrust, the financial allocation to polytechnics
has been lowered by the government. However, the lack of funds made
the polytechnic take the initiative to develop a cash waqf to provide
infrastructure to the students. Among the contributors of cash waqf
are the polytechnic lecturers themselves. However, there are several
things that need to be highlighted to raise this cash waqf fund, namely
knowledge, religious obedience, income and institutional beliefs of the
lecturers.
Although the cash waqf has gained significant traction in Malaysia as
an important Islamic contribution, there are still some challenges to be
overcome such as the lack of awareness among the community
especially about the concept and benefits of cash waqf. Participation
in cash waqf is low among the public. This has reduced the impact and
potential of cash waqf to assist communities in social development.
The lack of clear guidelines and rules for the management of cash waqf
is a concern about the thoroughness and accountability of cash waqf
funds. While cash waqf has the potential to be an important form of
Islamic contribution in Malaysia, these challenges and issues need to
be addressed to maximise its impact and potential.
Knowledge plays an important role in the contribution to the cash
waqf. The public's knowledge of the concepts and benefits offered by
cash waqf can increase awareness and understanding of the form of
contribution in Islam. Apart from understanding the concept, effective
