            METHODOLOGY
The percentage growth trend quantifies the rate of growth over a
specified period. Therefore, this study measured the growth trend of
zakat collection based on the gold price, nisab rate, GDP, and
Inflation Rate. This study is considered as an exploratory in
obtaining information about zakat collection growth in Lembaga
Zakat Selangor (LZS). Lembaga Zakat Selangor (LZS) is chosen as
sample data due to the highest total zakat collection and distribution
achieved compared with other states in Malaysia. Furthermore, LZS
is situated in Klang Valley area which is highly populated and is the
center for economic activities and contributes the highest to
Malaysia's gross domestic product (GDP). Secondary yearly data
such as total zakat collection and distribution from 1990 - 2019 (30
years) are taken from LZS’s annual reports. Gold price and Nisab
rate for 30- year period are collected from LZS’s website.
Macroeconomic data for 30 years are taken from the International
Monetary fund website. To observe the growth trend in zakat
collection based on the gold price a, Nisab and macroeconomic
variables, all the values are transformed into percentage growth.

            RESULT AND DISCUSSION
Figure 1 shows the percentage growth of zakat collection and
distribution in Selangor from 1990-2019. Percentage growth in
zakat distribution is higher than percentage growth in zakat
            collection except in the year 1998, 1999, 2008, 2011, and 2017. This
is further supported by the 30-year average percentage growth for
zakat distribution (22.95) which is higher than the 30-year average
percentage growth for zakat collection (19.23). It is believed that the
financial crisis 1997/1998, global economic crisis 2008/2009, and
the recent pandemic covid-19 crisis slow down the total zakat
collection thus, the total zakat distribution will also be affected. This
is further supported by the decreasing trendline of zakat collection.
The highest percentage growth in zakat collection is in 1996
(80.09%) and the lowest in 1999 (-5.62%). The highest percentage
