EXTENSION AND RETENTION IS EVERY CLUB’S BUSINESS
(Check “The Nice List” below)
Every Club must concentrate on increasing membership because membership is every Lion’s business.
Besides supervising the entire committee, the Membership Chair must focus on extension. They must “keep an eye” on the
population changes in the surrounding communities.
Are we losing clubs? Are neighboring communities underserved?
Such conditions must be reported to the Vice District Governor who is responsible for retaining and developing quality
membership.
Are members involved and satisfied with this service?
How can we retain our membership?
1 Be sociable. 5. Encourage open,democratic decision-making
Newcomers must be introduced. Even new member must have a voice
All members must feel welcome and included. Actively listen to the opinions of others.
Group cliques must be discouraged.
Networking is fine. 6. Provide access and opportunity for training and
positions.
2. Welcome new ideas. Sponsor training at club level
Survey new members about their expectations Encourage participation in District Training Sessions.

3. Conduct Efficient Meetings.
Share the agenda before the meeting date.
Table lengthy discussions for the next meeting.
Implement rules to share speaking time fairly
Committee Chair should present a well - prepared proposal.
Meeting Chairperson must tactfully manage difficult members
and maintain control.
4. Encourage active involvement in activities.
Solicit input from newer members.
Organize a mentoring program
Develop a website and use it to communicate
