DeSoto Lions & LS&TF Get Together
A very successful day and a great time was had by the DeSoto and LS&TF (Lions Sight and Tissue Foundation) Lions at the DeSoto Living Festival. The LS&TF Mobile Vision Bus was located in a highly visible location along Beltline Road. This turned out to be a great location to do their “SPOT” vision screenings. They were able to screen 52 individuals with the results being that 17% of those screened were referred to see their ophthalmologist. They also recruited 5 potential Lions by handing out applications during the day. Fundraising wasn’t missed either. They were able to sell some raffle tickets throughout the day. The raffle ticket sales netted $150 for the LS&TF that day. This shows how Lions Clubs know how to “multi-task” and
get great results. A special thanks to IPDG Kate Tyre, LS&TF President Danny Fletcher, LS&TF Directors Neil Roach and Todd Bowsher. Thanks also goes out to all the DeSoto and LS&TF Lions showing how “WE SERVE” successfully.

Earth Day and Plano Evening Lions
People were very excited to learn about eyeglasses recycling and other projects organized by the Plano Early Lion’s Club at the Ericsson Earth Day Event on Thursday, April 20, 2017. The event started at 11:00am and ended at 1:00pm during the Ericsson employees lunch break. The Plano Evening Lions Club has an Eye Glass collection box at Ericsson for their employees. Their Club is always happy to meet with those who support our efforts in the Plano Community Lion Theresa St. Gil (pictured right) did an awesome job in explaining the Lions club activities and contributions within the community while Lion Malika Virani (pictured left) headed up the event for the Plano Evening Club. Together they were able to create awareness about our Eyeglasses recycling program as well as get some names of potential new members. Who knew it was this easy to show how “WE SERVE” on Earth Day.
