Mr. Ray E. Hoffman, head Wardlaw librarian, this year described the Library Club as “excellent contributors to the efficiency of the library through proctoring, assisting younger students in the use of materials, and raising funds for the purchase of valuable books.”
The annual book fair, held in February, was highly successful, yielding substantial profits for the purchase by the club of many needed books.
National Library Week was observed in late April. Paperbacks in such categories as non-fiction, science-fiction, the sciences, fiction, non-fiction and textbooks were offered for sale with large profits again realized.
In addition to running book sales and raising funds, the Library Club also provided 28 proctors to direct and keep order in the library. President C. Kurt Hanson was assisted by David P. Kamer, vice president; Thomas M. Kay, secretary; and Wayne G. Napolitano, treasurer.
