ATHLETE

PHILIPINE

VAN AANHOLT

IN THE TOP 5
OF THE LASER

RADIAL

CHAMPIONSHIP

UNTIL now the athlete Philipine van Aanholt has been doing really well in the Toronto 2015 Pan American Games.

The 2014 CAC Veracruz god medal winner managed to get herself into the top 5 in the
Laser Radial championships after only 3 days of competing. She was competing with 20 other athletes in this competition.

On the first day Philipine ranked 7th on the score board. The next day she competed twice, the first time she ranked 6th on the scoreboard and
in the second one she came in second place, which is quite impressive.
On the third day of competing she started a little slow but quickly recovered her pace. She was in third place following Bermuda and
the USA but a mistake made her slip to the 9th place, but she managed to rank 6th place by the end of the tournament.

The wind has a high impact on each championship that takes place in Toronto. This has a high impact on the athletes’
performances, sometimes they need to stop and wait long hours to be able to continue or even begin the cham-
pionship.

Guided by her coach who happens to be her dad, Cor van Aanholt, Philipine could end the competi-
tion in a really good position, since there are only three more days of competing left.
Philipine said that she feels very confident even though the competition is fierce and
everyone is giving it their all.
She said that she will try her best to achieve a high ranking in the 2015 Pa
American Games.
