2011, part of Tranquilo’s racing crew got recruited to sail on the 43 foot; St. Maarten flagged “D-Trip”. They sailed to a 2nd
place in the prestigious “Antigua Sailing Week” against top sailors from all corners of the world. The crew then continued on to
win 1st in class in the Aruba Rembrandt Regatta the same year. “Rafaga”, a smaller sister to Tranquilo, sailed to a first in class
that same event with Tranquilo’s teenaged racing crewmembers in their first solo race.
At the start of the last race of the event, one of the Beach Catamaran sailors got swept overboard in near gale force winds, and a
massive search and rescue operation was immediately put in effect with local authorities and regatta participants. Due to
experience, and careful calculations of the “D-Trip” crew, the sailor got rescued some 4 miles offshore. It was Captain Anthony
who spotted the lost sailor first and took him aboard D-Trip. The D-Trip crew returned to shore as heroes.
Next event, D-Trip took first in class and an overall win in the 2011, Bonaire International Regatta with four Tranquilo crew
members on board.
In 2012 and 2013, Rafaga, Tranquilo’s smaller sister boat, took first in class in the Curacao Heineken Regatta with an all
Tranquilo Racing Crew including 4 teenagers.
