Central Venous Device Care

Objectives

Upon completion of this course, the learner will:

 Be knowledgeable of central venous device (CVD) care
 Demonstrate central line device dressing
 Demonstrate needleless cap change

 Demonstrate heparinization of central venous line
 Be knowledgeable regarding documentation of central line
care in HCHB

 Be knowledgeable regarding documentation of central line
issues (e.g. s/s of infection, inability to flush catheter) in
HCHB
 Be competent to report catheter issues to provider
