PURPOSE of Notice of Medicare Non-
Coverage (NOMNC) a.k.a. Generic Notice
To inform Medicare beneficiaries (traditional or Managed) about the discharge
of all home care services.
• For traditional Medicare, the notice must be issued a minimum of 2
calendar days prior to the last scheduled visit (i.e. the discharge date).
• For Managed Medicare, a NOMNC is generated for the authorization
period. If, at the end of the authorization period more visits are approved,
a new NOMNC is generated for the new authorization period.
To inform the patient of the appeal process.
