Astounded by the harsh words and

ruthless treatment from her son, Malin

Kundang’s mother became so angry.

She never thought that her son that

she had raised so lovingly grew to be

such a discourteous man who would

not admit his own mother.

With her fury raising from deep within,

Malin Kundang’s mother raised her

hands to the sky and prayed, “Oh God,

if he is indeed my son, I curse him to

turn to stone.”
