The first game ever played was on April 22, 1876. Two teams played under the
National League association. In the past, some games got cancelled in the same
day of the event. This was because some clubs would choose to lose the game
and forfeit it instead of going to the stadium and have a fair match. Baseball
fans went to less games after these events kept on occurring. The National
League helped prevent this from happening, so baseball fans went to see the
games again.
