 The Egyptians described Atlantis




 to be an island consisting mostly



 of  mountains in the northern side



 and along its shores, encompassing




 a huge plain along the south. The



 legend starts off  when Poseidon



 fell in love with the daughter of




 Evenor and Leucippe, Cleito, who



 eventually gave birth to five pairs




 of  male twins. The eldest of  the



 sons, Atlas, was named the rightful




 king of  the entire island and the



 ocean, thus given the name “Atlantic
