avoid treating learners as if they do not know anything. Teachers need to be
competent in their subject of specialization. Teachers have to stay abreast
with new developments in their fields. Ideal teachers should be in a position
to discover new knowledge and improve existing knowledge.
Leading does not only occur when the teacher facilitates knowledge.
Leadership occurs within and outside the school context. An ideal teacher
should possess leadership skills because he/she is not a teacher but a
parent, sport coach, colleague, life coach and a friend. An ideal teacher is
like the Northern star; he/she gives direction to souls who are learning about
life. He/she treats learners with respect, love and dignity. An ideal teacher
understands that learners are like pencils, somewhere they will make
mistakes, an ideal teacher will accept their mistake and award learners an
opportunity to rectify their doing. An ideal teacher leads by example, he
accepts that he/she is also human and accept wherever he/she has made a
mistake and rectify it.
An ideal teacher will lead learners to research, he/she makes learners aware
of the dangers of the internet and how to research. He/she leads learners
