Cow hitch

Another knot that is liable to collapse once the

load is released, the cow hitch can be very effective
when used in the right context. An identical knot is

used on baggage labels, although there it’s tied in
the bight and called a bale sling hitch or girth hitch.

1 Take a turn around the pole, or other object, then pass the working end

over the standing part.
