Travelling knot

Clifford Ashley (aka ‘the god of knots’) calls

this ‘one of the prettiest knot tricks’. And it’s
certainly pleasing to watch the knot travelling from

one end of the line to the other. It’s also a graphic
demonstration of why you should never ever rely on

a granny knot.

1 You’ll need two 5ft (1.5m) lengths of slippery line – a fine multiplait or

Dyneema will do the trick. Tie the ends together with an overhand knot,

going left over right…
