Carmen Marttila
Carmen Marttila is the Sr. Director of Development for
Junior Achievement (JA) of Washington.
Carmen joined JA in September of 2018, bringing extensive
banking and financial coaching experience. Before joining
JA, Carmen spent over 15 years as a leader in the banking
industry. In addition to her passion for empowering youth,
Carmen continues her work with the community as a
member of the Financial Empowerment Training Task
Force, Executive Development Institute of Seattle,
Financial Education Public-Private Partnership, United
Way’s Financial People Project, and Financial
Empowerment Network.
Carmen is passionate about empowering individuals to own
their economic success. While sharing with community
allies how for 67 years, JA of Washington has been
working with communities across the state to provide an
immersive curriculum that helps children of all ages learn
the fundamentals of entrepreneurship, work-readiness, and
finance. These three interconnected platforms help form a
lasting foundation that empowers students to own their
future.
Carmen and JA of Washington stand for social justice. We
are committed to educating in a way that dismantles
inequality, racism, and oppression and sparking honest
conversations in our communities. The future we envision
and prepare our students cannot exist unless we become
catalysts for change.
Carmen is a first-generation Latina. When not at work, you
can find Carmen and her husband RVing, traveling, hiking,
biking, and enjoying life.
