Intercellular bridge pattern
(AC-27)
In the indirect immunofl uorescence test, HEp-2 cells in
the metaphase of mitosis show a fi ne speckled fluorescence
of the equatorial plane in the presence of midbody antibodies.
In contrast to the pattern found with antibodies against
centromeres, this fluorescing line remains in the middle until
the end of mitosis. Their length corresponds to the whole cell
width in the separation zone, and the line increasingly shortens
until only a fl uorescing dot is seen in the telophase, binding
the daughter cells together (“goodbye kiss”)
