club meetings alongside our two AmeriCorps College Coaches. This assistance was with William T. Dwyer and Palm Beach Gardens High School. This year we also held boot camps in the fall, spring, and summer intended to help students increase their test scores for either college admissions or graduation concordance scores
The Senior College Readiness Portfolio was completed by 100% of the seniors. Seniors submitted a student resume, personal statement essay, and provided documentation that showed their processes of applying for scholarships and college applications. Our eleven top portfolio winners from each club along with one winner representing our non-club schools received a financial award in the form of a $100 Target gift card to use as they prepare to go into their institutions of choice. At the Senior Summit, all seniors received a book bag and planner to get them started on their post-secondary success.
The in-person TSIC Graduation took
place this year at the South Florida
Expo Center, where they received
their graduation cords and
scholarship award letters. Graduation
marked a first this year by having
students wear their school’s
graduation robes, adding to a colorful
celebration of our scholars. The
ceremony was attended by the Superintendent of the School District of Palm Beach County, Mike Burke, other district personnel, Johnson Foundation Board Members, and Take Stock in Children Board Members.
Our Virtual College Readiness Clubs continued via Google Meets for our non-club students. Our club students continued to meet each month on each school site. Each cohort of non-club students met twice this year with the college
coaches for Virtual College Readiness Clubs.
TSIC/JS Class of 2022
All students were able to participate in end of the year celebrations where we celebrate many successes of our students. Students who didn’t attend the club meetings were given the option to complete a Virtual Resource Packet to ensure all students have access to the college readiness and the social emotional support given during the meetings. Overall attendance to the College Readiness clubs remained at 77% this year, with resource packet completion totals included.
