Goal #3: Increase the number of internship/career opportunities for AIBL students each year by 50% (7 total for year 2).
In September 2021, AIBL was awarded a federal grant to mentor 40 AIBL students per year, for the next 3 years (120 students in total). The project was fully funded through a government grant (HHS/ANA) and the first three cohorts have been successfully completed. Over the past year, 42 AIBL students have been able to participate in career-enhancing opportunities which have had a positive impact on their education and professional goals. We are happy to report that three of our interns have been offered full-time career job placement as a result of the summer 2022 internships. Jill will be joining Synchrony Financial as a Business Leaders Professional (BLP), Sierra and Cassandra will both be joining the Sony Music Group as soon as they graduate in May.
Goal #4: Expand the number of corporate sponsors from 4 (Nike, Synchrony, Wells Fargo) to 5.
Over the past year, we have been able to maintain positive relationships with Nike and Synchrony. Both partners have fully participated as mentors for the new mentoring project we launched in October 2021. Through the course of the first program year, we have also attracted mentors from the following entities:
