Marcus Margerum
As vice president of government and community affairs, Marcus Margerum rep-
resents the interest of Atlanta Convention & Visitors Bureau and its members in
government issues impacting the hospitality industry. He plays an integral part in
ensuring the hospitality industry’s voice is heard by local and state legislators.
Margerum is a recognized leader in the hospitality industry, receiving the 2018 APEX
Award for Distinguished Service from Black Meetings & Tourism. He is a member
of Leadership Atlanta’s Class of 2019 and sits on the board of directors for Destina-
tions International’s Destination Marketing Accreditation Program, Atlanta Fire Res-
cue Foundation, Georgia Association of Convention & Visitors Bureaus and Georgia
Travel Association.

Community Affairs He previously served as vice president of marketing and communications of Chick-
Atlanta Convention & Visitors Bureau fil-A College Football Hall of Fame during its relocation and opening in Atlanta and
as vice president of marketing and sales for Zoo Atlanta.
Prior to joining the hospitality industry, Margerum worked in consumer package
goods as a brand strategy consultant for Zyman Group and in brand management
for S.C. Johnson Wax and L’Oreal USA. Some of the brands that grew under his
management include Ziploc, Glade, Raid, Scrubbing Bubbles, Dark & Lovely, Opti-
mum Care and Magic Shave.
Margerum is a graduate of Hampton University where he received his bachelor’s
degree in business management, and Clark Atlanta University where he received his
Master of Business Administration in marketing.
