                8.9.1 Carburetor construction

Below and on the following pages you will get an overview of a simple version of

                a carburetor.

We will slowly construct the carburetor and expand it so that it meets the

requirements that are now placed on such a one.

                 • The engine draws air in

                    through the venturi

                 • Static pressure drops in the

                    venturi.
                 • Gasoline is forced out into the

                    nozzle and atomized and

                    vaporized.

                 • The engine runs at full throttle

                    until there is no more

gasoline, and then the show is over, so...

To avoid a lack of gasoline in the carburetor, the system must be expanded.

                 • A float solves the problem.

                 • In order to be able to regulate

                    the speed, we install a

                    throttle.

                 • The main distributor is

                    equipped with a small

                    nozzle.

                 • There is a little lack of power,

and there are problems with idling

Not quite so good yet. An air duct for the main distributor is necessary to get a

                better spread of the gasoline.
