Aircraft general knowledge

If you pull the throttle lever back, the engine will produce less, but the Governor

will respond by decreasing the blade angle, and then the RPM can be kept

                constant.

At take-off, all 3 levers are fully extended.

The procedure used is different, depending on whether you want to increase

                PWR or decrease PWR.

                  - Increase PWR: First, the pitch is reduced by pushing the propeller lever

forward, then the throttle is applied.

                  - Reduce PWR: First pull the throttle back, then pull the propeller handle

                      backwards.

Be careful that the engine does not stall at any time. Do this by avoiding running

at low RPM (high pitch) and high engine output.

General rule: run with a greater number of deca revolutions than inch manifold

                pressure, e.g. 25(00)RPM and 24” pressure.
