I have been bearing an idea of visiting an animals’ shelter for
a long time. And when I voiced my proposal to my team of KFC
peers to aid the shelter named “Cat and Dog”, all of them unani-
mously supported this idea. We discussed everything, made
a list of all the stuff required for “the lovely tails”, contacted the
Head of the shelter and agreed about the date of our visit. One
week later we gathered a few large bags of the stuff that animals
needed so much: towels, blankets, rugs. We also collected 4000
Rubles which helped us acquire the food and other essentials for
the shelter. All in all, we used 3 cars to transport 30 kg of grains
to make soup for the dogs and 70 bags of the cat food. The shel-
ter regularly provides residence for cats and dogs that are be-
ing treated or rehabilitated. For them we have bought swaddling
clothes, bands and syringes. We also bought some cleaning de-
vices and liquids. But most of all the shelter needs help in main-
taining tidiness, appropriate buildings maintenance and keeping
              the facilities clean.
We visited the shelter in a team of nine and in a couple of
hours managed to do a lot: we cleaned all the area for kennels
from ice and snow, last year sticks and leaves, cleaned the rooms
where the cats live and have fun. In response the furry creatures
shared their sincere joy. The dogs in the shelter are extremely
friendly, responding to care and attention with such love and
craving. Totally the facility was providing shelter to 380 dogs and
100 cats when we visited it. When so many kind eyes were look-
ing at us, I had incredible feelings – overwhelmed with emotions
I was trembling all over, and not only myself, but all of us!
Later on, when we were discussing this visit, we decided that
we would definitely visit this shelter with our volunteering on
a regular basis and will try to engage the peers from other res-
              taurants to this activity!
