They Were Teaching Us to CHOOSE!
It is not a secret we always encounter challenges. I faced
a challenge in making the final choice of my future profession.
I had contemplated a lot, thinking about that, but still could not
decide what I would like to be. My contemplations could have
become endless, if one day our school had not been visited by
the volunteers of the KFC Corporate Charity Fund “Opening Hori-
zons”. From the very first meeting I found these people very nice,
open and kind, they inspired trust. They started to visit us on
a regular basis, each of them was telling some stories from his/
her background sharing own experience. They were speaking
not only about the achievements but about the mistakes made
and their consequences. And best of all, all these people were
treating us as their family members! During our classes I never
felt any embarrassment, tension or fear, on the contrary there
was always a lot of fun!
When I was looking at our volunteers, a smile appeared on my
face. I wanted to give a hug to each of them. Together with them
I was never bored! And one more thing, they were teaching us to
CHOOSE! We attended excursions where we were told how and
why a particular person had chosen a particular profession. I was
so caught up in listening these stories, that sometimes I could
even imagine myself taking a particular job! I started thinking
again about what I wanted to be. And if earlier after my contem-
plations I had not got too much choice, after the games, excur-
sions and conversations with the volunteers I had an entire job
list in front of me! I was also thinking to become a volunteer. After
all, it is so great to be a volunteer! Every day a volunteer commu-
nicates with new people, helps them in choosing a profession,
pushes in the proper direction or does something good, but the
most important – shares a smile!
I am so glad that I have met such remarkable people and they
have given me the opportunity to choose a profession to my lik-
ing and moreover – to trust in myself and feel more confident!
