ST-PETER CHURCH
It is built on the site of a chapel erected by Pope
Adrian IV (1154-1159) and dedicated to St. Peter in Chains. Construction and early expansions took place in the 16th and 17th centuries, with the current building being renovated in 1758 and enlarged in 1832 and 1894. The current bell tower dates back to 1932. The church is characterized
by the presence of four side chapels, one of which is used for a reenactment of the Lourdes grotto.
OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES
SOFT WALK CIRCUIT
Peaceful small Provençal village located at the gateway to Provence, between Alpilles and Durance in the heart of
a rich agricultural region of 500 hectares, thanks to its proximity to the con uence
of the Rhône and Durance rivers. The farms are supplied by irrigation canals which serve two purposes for the community: maintaining agriculture and improving the quality of life for its residents, as well as discovering the biodiversity of the community. Discover the most beautiful corners of Rognonas through this family-friendly countryside walk, exploring the heritage and biodiversity of the village.
THE GARDEN OF THE VIRGIN
At the end of the 19th century, the cemetery of the town
was moved and a garden was created. On November 10, 1875, a statue of the Virgin was inaugurated, making this garden the «garden of the Virgin». On the last Sunday of August at 9 pm, a procession takes place with living paintings in memory of Elisa Seisson, the 10th miracle of Lourdes in 1882.
PARC DES SPORTS ET DES LOISIRS
This leisure park, inaugurated in May 2013, is located on more than 4 hectares. To
get there, you will follow a «roubine», a small canal
used for irrigation that is a hallmark of this agricultural region. This leisure space has an athletics track, a synthetic and grassy eld, a tness trail, and a Mediterranean garden. It is also a refuge for the League for the Protection of Birds, and 80 species have been identi ed, including 45 insects, some of which are protected. Facilities have been put in place to preserve the ecosystem: birdhouses, insect hotels, a canal exit ramp,
and local aromatic plants. A pedagogical path will explain the local botanical species and their speci cities. This park is adjacent to the Oléon estate, where there are century-old plane trees and a statue of St. Joseph visible from the park
