fferent muscle groups on different days, they try to isolate the muscle, and more likely would work every
muscle only once per cycle only. To exercise the entire body it usually takes a week, and as many good
coaches know; weight training five days a week leaves little time to work on speed, cardio, coordination,
flexibility, agility, endurance, and obviously technical preparation.
Discussing bodybuilding methods should be irrelevant to most martial artists, because it hinders our
purposes. Unfortunately most martial artists who don’t have proper guidance use them, together with
other common gym concepts of being in shape due to popularity rather than practicality. Avoid them
because they will not develop the type of strength we need for fighting.
Regardless of the motivation that brings you inside the dojo, and your personal approach to martial
arts, whether is tournaments, physical and spiritual improvement/growth, self-defense, or any other;
apply these principles for optimum success when strength building for your martial arts discipline. Ex-
pose yourself to hardcore training that makes you a martial artist rather than a hobbyist who
builds muscle without a purpose.
