neur, Actor, Producer, Director, Writer, or simply ANYONE who wants to hang out with
some of the most interesting people on the planet! More on “Mate” or “Yerba Mate” in
minute. This hip get-together started in Fresno, California on December 17, 2016 and
has since spread to New York, Florida, Montevideo, Uruguay, and Buenos Aires, Argen-
tina. “Mate with the Masters” (I promise I’ll explain what “Yerba Mate” is in a minute.
Basically it’s a unique tea-like drink enjoyed primarily in Uruguay and Argentina, South
America), is actually a spin-off of “Coffee with the Masters – Fresno” which itself was
a spin-off of the Original “Coffee with the Masters” that began in Manteca, California
in 2013 by three amazing Martial Art Masters, Harry Mok, David de Jesus, and Steven
Barbieri. “Coffee with the Masters – Fresno” is still held in conjunction with the month-
ly “Mate with the Masters” where founder and organizer Soke Dave Johnson (a Hall of
Fame Grand Master himself) treats his guests to FREE Coffee, endless conversations,
fantastic stories, photo opportunities, and tons of laughter, and just as it was estab-

Masters” stays at “Coffee and Mate with the Masters” (Kind of a Vegas thing if you well).

trition.
Yerba mate (yer-bah mah-tay) is made from
the naturally caffeinated and nourish-
ing leaves of the celebrated South Ameri-
can rainforest holly tree (Ilex paraguarien-
sis). For centuries, South America’s Aché
Guayakí tribe have sipped yerba mate
from a traditional mate gourd for its reju-
venative effects. These rainforest people
find tremendous invigoration, focus, and
nourishment in yerba mate.
The leaves of the rainforest mate tree
naturally contain 24 vitamins and
minerals, 15 amino acids, abundant an-
tioxidants. In fact, The Pasteur Institute
and the Paris Scientific society in 1964
concluded “it is difficult to find a plant in
any area of the world equal to Mate in
