CHEST TUBE PLACEMENT Chest tube in place after lateral thoracotomy for a
penetrating wound. Tube enters skin at approximately the tenth intercostal space
(ICS) (large arrow), tunnels under skin for three rib spaces, and enters thorax (small
arrow) through seventh ICS. Note Chinese finger trap suture pattern to secure tube
and use of wire to secure tube-to-adapter and adapter-to-stopcock connections.
