Testing Triac

                                                Typical example of Triac

The triac is an electronic switch or relay with three terminals. It comes in
many shapes, sizes and colors It is an open circuit with no gate signal
present, but conduct in both directions when gate voltage is applied. Triac
are used extensively in power control circuits.

They are particularly suite for AC power control applications such as
motor speed control, light dimmers, temperature control and inverters.
They are also employed for over-voltage protection in DC power
                   supplies.
