4. Apprenticeships

With the advent of ‘trailblazer’ apprenticeship standards, and in

2017 the apprenticeship levy funding model, the world of

apprenticeships is now much broader. You can use the

apprenticeship model to enhance an employee’s skill set

provided:

 They are employed by your company for at least 30 hours

per week at the age appropriate minimum wage

 They are not undertaking another apprenticeship

 They will meet the entry requirements of the

apprenticeship before completion

 The apprenticeship is appropriate to both the employer

and employee’s training needs

 That the employee has at least 20% of their working time

away from the normal duties to focus on the requirements

to complete the apprenticeship
