FOREWORD
THE accompanying Bibliografia de las Lenguas Quechua y
Aymard was presented by its compiler, Dr. Jose Toribio
Medina, before the Twenty-third International Congress
of Americanists, held in New York City in September, 1928,
and with the expectation that it would be published as a part
of the Proceedings of the Congress. Owing to limitations of
space, however, due to the fact that the Bibliografia exceeds
the length necessarily prescribed by the PubHcation Com-
mittee of the Congress, this Museum undertook to print it
in its present form.
I wish to extend the thanks of the Museum to Dr. Rudolf
Schuller for his goodness in reading the proofs, made necessary
by Dr. Medina's residence in Chile. In performing this task
Dr. Schuller discovered various other bibliographic materials
relating to the Quechua and Aymara languages which, to-
gether with notes on the subject previously made by him, it is
deemed advisable to publish separately in this series in the
near future.
