AIX-EN-PROVENCE – Villa Gallici: This 19-room, villa-style hotel is luxe through and
through. Located five min from the center of Aix, the property was established in an 18th-
century Provençal house by three friends who wanted to create a traditional country house-style
property within the town limits of Aix.
They succeeded, and then some. No
two rooms here are alike, though all
are spacious and very well appointed,
decorated in rich fabrics and ornate
wallpapers. Unique flourishes abound,
from freestanding tubs in palatial
white-marble bathrooms, to
reproduction furniture, to the
occasional canopy bed, and private
terraces or balconies are almost
universal. Outside, seven acres of Florentine gardens offer a tranquil retreat in the shade of
Cypress trees. There is a nice pool on property along with a fine restaurant under the command
of Christophe Gavot. One can take dinner on the terrace in season or in the dining room. Villa
