Skipstone Ranch (Alexander Valley):
The 200 acres of this beautiful estate are
tucked between two hillsides above
Alexander Valley. Each acre is tended
to with the utmost respect for the land,
as sustainability is key to the Skipstone
name. Only organic farming practices
are used here, with no chemical
herbicides, pesticides, or fertilizers in the
vineyards. This deep commitment to
the quality and purity of the harvest
leads to grapes that express the truth of
their terroir, resulting in memorable, elegant wines. Skipstone is particularly respected for their
Viognier, and they have lovely Bordeaux varietals, too. In addition to outstanding wine,
Skipstone also produces top-quality organic olive oil from their own Manzanillo olive trees, 550
of which blanket 7 acres of the estate. As much love is given to the olives as to the grapes, with
harvesting done by hand and the olives cold-pressed just hours later. Skipstone is easily one of
Sonoma’s finest producers, and well worth a visit. They aren’t open to the public, so tasting
experiences are highly exclusive.
Williams Selyem (Russian River): What began as a weekend hobby dabbling in winemaking
in the 1970s has blossomed into one of Sonoma County’s most prominent wineries. Burt
Williams and Ed Selyum began their
journey together, collectively deciding to
turn their hobby into a profession. Their
success can largely be attributed to the
excellent quality of grapes, sourced both
from the finest growers in the Russian
River Valley and from their own estate.
Williams Selyem tasting experiences are
exclusive and tend to have a lengthy
waiting period, which is proof positive of
the winery’s success and loyal base of
customers. They make some of the top-
rated Pinot Noir in the country, as well as great Zinfandel, Chardonnay, and special releases
based on harvest. Russian River Royalty!
