P. 10
Without a doubt, this year has been the hardest time of my
life: In a matter of months, I went from being happily
married, gainfully employed, and financially stable to
estranged, unemployed, and on the verge of homelessness
—on top of being the mother of two toddlers. My life had
gotten so far out of control that I did not know what my
next move would be.
Saving I began a daily struggle of job hunting and taking public
transportation, on top of being a student at Broward
College studying Marketing Management and taking care of
Grace my two children, Brooklyn (3) and Urijah (4). Many days I felt
like I was not strong enough, but the Family Team at Jack &
Jill encouraged me to keep going. Months of unemployment
The Family meant my bills began to pile up. I would often cry at night
Success Story of with worry of eviction, not knowing what evening I may
Nikinnia Lee come home from my internship only to find my belongings
at the curbside. Jack & Jill gave me hope that everything
would work out fine. The Family Team helped me and my
family obtain rental assistance and I am forever grateful.
With the stress of housing instability off my plate, I was able
to secure a full-time job at American Express as a Platinum
Customer Care Professional. Because of the assistance I
received, I sleep more soundly at night! I do not know what I
would have done if I was evicted. Jack & Jill is my saving
grace and for that I will always be eternally grateful! The
only way I can truly thank them enough is to make them
proud. I appreciate them so much. They have changed the
course of my life. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
Sincerely,
Jack & Jill Children's Center Parent
