BEST FRIENDS FOREVER

Two inseparable friends, Sera and Ahana, met with an accident on their way to the City. The
next morning, Ahana woke up blind and Sera was still unconscious. Dr. Bey was standing at
her bedside looking at her with a thoughtful expression on his face. When he saw Sera awake,
he beamed at her and asked." How are you feeling today Sera?" Sera tried to put up a brave
face and smiled back saying, "Absolutely wonderful Doctor. I am very grateful for all that you
have done for me. "Dr. Bey was moved at Sera's deed. All that he could say was, "You are a
very brave girl ". While he was moving on to the next patient, Sera called back at him almost
pleading, "Promise me you won't tell Ahana anything".

"You know I won't do that. Trust me." And he walked away.
"Thank you” whispered Sera. She smiled and looked up in prayer " I hope I live up to your ide-
as...please give me the strength to be able to go through this.."
Months later when Ahana had recuperated considerably, she stopped hanging around with
Sera. She felt discouraged and embarrassed to spend time with a disabled person like Sera.

Sera was lonely and disheartened, since she didn't have anybody else other than Ahana to
count on. Things went from bad to worse. After a months Sera died of an illness. When Ahana
was called to attend her burial, she found a letter waiting for her. Dr. Bey gave it to her with
an expressionless face and said" This is for you Ahana. Sera had asked me to give it to you
            when she was gone".

In the letter she had said: “Dear Ahana, I kept my promise to lend you my eyes if anything
went wrong. Now there is nothing more that I can ask from God, than the fact that you will
see the world through my eyes. You will always be my best friend........Sera".

When she had finished reading Dr. Bey said " I had promised Sera to keep her sacrifice she
made a secret from you. But now I wish I didn't stick to it, because I don't think you are wor-
            thy of it".
All that was left for Ahana while she stood there was tears of regret and memories of Sera for
            the rest of her life.
Moral of the story: Best friends are the sunshine of life!!

You need to work and even rest, While singing all the songs and rhymes
