Studying is no more stressful
Until Last year, I used to get overly worried and stressed out during the exam days. This
year, our Life skills teacher taught us some great ideas to avoid exam and study stress. I
started practicing some of these ideas and I feel much better now-a-days. Let me share some
simple things I started doing.
Firstly, I started being attentive in the class. I started noting down all the home work given
by the teachers in the almanac. This saves a lot of time at home and no need to ask any
friends.
I took help of my father, made a timetable for home and started studying everyday as per the
timetable. It is better to read the entire chapter from text book at least once. It is important to
read and understand the content and not just by-heart. I made it a habit to study at least 2
hours during week days and 4 hours during weekends. I also make it a point to play with my
friends every day. Just before going to bed, I try to recollect all the things I learnt during the
day.
During exam days, I revise the chapters at least twice. The worksheet given by school helps a
lot. Revision classes before the exams are very important and I make it a point not to miss
them. I try and take a 5 minute break between every 30 mins of study time. I generally avoid
watching TV and don’t go out to play with my friends during the exam time. On the exam
day, I keep my mind calm and cool and not get carried away by what my friends are doing.
One thing I still need to improve is to stop worrying if I realize after the exam that any of the
answers I wrote is wrong. I need to realize that it is fine to make mistakes, but not repeat
them.
I hope to continue to practise these ideas in the coming years. I would like to thank my Life
skills teacher for her encourage- m e n t
and ideas to reduce stress.. No Samita Pai III– E Rakshan R II– E m o r e

Happy Halloween Rio Olympics 2016
Dad said, “It’s Olympics time,”
Not so long ago, And Mum said, “Its screen time.”
I was having lots of fun, They slouch on the couch;
I wore a pretty gown, Between them, I crouch.
With a little bun. Our eyes glued to the screen,
We went from house to house in search of Wowed by the brilliant scene,
something special, Dazzled by the panorama,
It gave a tinkle of delight, The very first opening drama.
When we saw it in a cover. Dad and mum cheer mightily,
We went to a house, As Michael Phelps swims magically.
And rang a little doorbell, I wish a mighty fish I could be,
And they knew exactly what to do, Just as he seems to be!
When they opened the door. Then I see another man,
They had come with treats, Seems really not human,
And gave a handful of them, For like a cheetah he races,
And when they put it in our bags, “Usain Bolt!” means many happy
We screamed HAPPY HALLOWEEN to them. faces.
I hope you understand, We sit up now, no more slouching,
About what we had been doing, No more crouching and grouching.
If you did not understand, I said, “An Olympian I wish to be,
We had gone for trick or treat! A brilliant one I vow to be.”
