A Stewardship Project for Lent

We have been asked to be good stewards of all that God has given us. Sometimes we find we have ac-
cumulated too much of some things and need to find a place to recycle them instead of tossing them in
the trash. The Stewardship Team thinks Lent is a good time to ‘give up’ some of our no longer needed
items and find a new home for them. Keeping Northern Illinois Beautiful (KNIB) is having a Clothing
Drive on Saturday, May 11, not long after Easter and giving you plenty of time to collect things you no
longer need. It is good stewardship on your part and will help give you some extra space in your house.

KNIB will take lots of things – including ‘rags’ or stained clothing. Here is what they are willing to take –

Donated items should be placed in plastic bags and securely tied. Shoes should be placed together in
same the same bag.
Clean, dry items accepted, wearable or not, include:

Men’s, Women’s and Children’s Apparel, Coats, Outerwear, Hats, Belts,
Shoes (may rubber band or tie pairs together), Pants, Shirts, Blouses, Dresses,
Backpacks, Soft-sided Luggage, Purses, Briefcases, Towels, Curtains, Bathmats, Throw Rugs,
Stuffed Toys, Bed linens and Pillows (no mattresses), Rag Stock — Stained or Torn Items,
Fabric, Yarn

Items no longer suitable for wear are re-purposed into fiberfill products such as carpeting padding, pol-
ishing cloths, or automotive trunk linings.

Wearable items will be sorted locally by KNIB’s partner, to be redistributed or sold in the United States or
developing countries.

We will set a time when you can bring bags of items to the church and we will have them taken to the
Farm and Fleet parking lots on West State Street or in Rockton. If you might be willing to help take bags
to the collection points on Saturday, May 11 between 9:00 a.m. and noon, please let Paula or Mary know.

Hi gals! Our next event will be an outing for brunch at the Fire
Barn on Sunday, April 28th. No work required, just bring your
appetites and enjoy the company! A sign up sheet will be at
church. Please let us know if you can make it; we will need to
reserve tables. Any questions, let Paula or Mary know.

Coming in June....... The 3 B’s (well, it’s actually going to be the 4 B’s.
