Families impacting: All families throughout Broward County, Florida – including families in
high-need communities, families impacted by Autism Spectrum Disorder, and families accessing
community services including early childhood mental health, screening and assessment, and
family therapy.
Practitioners impacting: Early childhood program directors, assistant directors, teachers, and
assistant teachers; Pediatricians; Pediatric dentists; Family therapists; Early intervention
therapists; Occupational therapists; Mental health counselors; University students from fields as
diverse as family therapy and school psychology.
Community impact: As the only Touchpoints site in Broward County we are reaching out to
those persons who “touch” families and children. We anticipate training all faculty and staff in
the Mailman Segal Center and continuing to extend the reach to include additional professionals
in the university and our community. Within the past year of trainings we are already receiving
strong positive feedback from agencies and families acknowledging the impact this has made
and multiple requests for additional trainings.
Highlights since you began: We have been honored to offer the Touchpoints trainings to our
community at no charge thanks to grant funding from the A.D. Henderson Foundation, Inc. Our
trainings consistently receive positive feedback and we are filled to capacity, without the need to
extensively market, which underlines the need and appreciation for the information. The
diversity of attendees have been inclusive of persons from varying backgrounds and professions
which has allowed for quality discussions and supportive environments in the trainings and has
led to collaborative activities in the community as a result.
