Berkshire Hills Chorus (continued)
“It’s the most wonderful time of the year... do, do, dooo, doot dooo.” Those are some of the words to one of
the songs which we were frequently singing this winter... but it was also certainly the way that our Berkshire
Hills Chorus was feeling! It felt so good to have a busy schedule of weekly performances lined up for the
time between Thanksgiving and the New Year.
We continue to schedule our performances primarily outside – much to the delight of the many surprised
audiences we have encountered this season. Our winter performances felt much like old-fashioned caroling.
We bundled up in black winter coats and mittens, layers upon layers of winter wear, extra cozy socks, toasty
boots, warm hats, and beautiful matching red scarves. We sang uplifting holiday music: from Carol of the
Bells to Jingle Bells, from an upbeat Feliz Navidad to a gentle German Silent Night, from Light One Candle
to Let There Be Peace on Earth, from Joy to the World to Auld Lang Syne, and many, many more.
For our first performance of the season, we
sang outside of Market 32, Marshalls, and
Kohls at The Center at Lenox, where we
were also invited inside, much to the joy of
store employees and shoppers who pulled
out their cell phones to record our songs. We
even added Let Me Call You Sweetheart to
our repertoire for a sweet couple out on a
“date night”. The following week, we sang a
selection of child-friendly songs at the
Pittsfield Tree Lighting Ceremony, just as
Santa and Mrs. Claus arrived for a visit from
the North Pole. This performance was
broadcast live on our local television station:
PCTV Pittsfield Community Television!
