Berkshire Hills Chorus

Our next stop was our annual, joyful performance at The Red Lion Inn in Stockbridge during their
Stockbridge Main Street at Christmas weekend. People gathered around us and joined in singing... almost as
if it was taken from a Norman Rockwell painting. Several days later, we had the privilege to sing to some of
Pittsfield’s heroes at a few Pittsfield Fire Stations.

Our first stop started and quickly ended with a roar, as the firemen rushed off to an emergency! Thankfully,
after singing at a couple of other stations and caroling at some former and current chorus members’ homes,
we circled back to headquarters and finished what we had started. The firefighters were thrilled and featured
us on their Facebook page. “It’s the hap- happiest season of all...” The following week, we were excited to
sing at the “Shop, Sip, and Stroll” event on Main Street in Great Barrington. It was cold, the streets were
packed, and we sang our hearts out to the many families in attendance. Our final seasonal performance
brought us “caroling, caroling through the town... caroling, caroling, up and down” festive North Street in
Pittsfield, bringing Christmas cheer to patrons in numerous restaurants.

After our last stop, several chorus members stayed at the restaurant to warm up, and a couple of young men
quietly paid for their order. When our chorus members realized this and thanked them, one of the men said,
“You know, I’ve had a really hard time getting into the holiday spirit this year. You women really helped
that. I can’t tell you how much I appreciate it.” Isn’t this why we do what we do? Oh, how we love to spread
joy through song! “It’s the most wonderful, most marvelous, most fabulous, joyously wonderful time,
wonderful, wonderful time of the year!” As we recently joined together for our first Holiday Gathering in a
number of years, we enjoyed a potluck dinner, a Yankee Gift Swap, and a fun chance to reminisce about this
past year and look ahead to a year of spreading more joy!
