        Island Grove Chorus

Island Grove Chorus’ trip from August 2022, to January, 2023

JOURNEY TO THE END OF SUMMER
We continued with our fun Section Planned Rehearsals; Baritones had done “the Blues”. Basses followed with
“Salsa night”, and now our Famous 3 Tenors did a Sports theme….danced to the Ballgame and Sweet Caroline,
ate Crackerjacks, and wore favorite team shirts , Red Sox, Patriots, Bruins, and others. Our last summer
rehearsal was taken over by our Leads with the color purple, along with anything “catty” including cat ears,
homemade “cat food”, and all in all was deemed “the Cats’ Meow!

       SEPTEMBER BACK TO THE RISERS
IGC started an intense review of the songs necessary for both October and November performances. We were
now up to 22 members with the addition of 5 new members. All members got to pick up “their belongings” and
“move” to a brand new (Rental) home on the risers, as most recent rehearsals had been in Part Sections.

       OCTOBER & NOVEMBER
Finally added on another half hour to rehearsal that had been previously taken off during COVID. As the
Interim Director, I loved that idea! One of our gals, Martha, created a cute “Fall Quartet” display which was
seen in an area of Seones Landscaping Garden during pumpkin time, which was an innovative way for some
free IGC advertising. And for some more advertising, Deanna, another crafty gal, made pins for the 14 of us
who went to Regional, with cute wording of different ways to ask anyone at Regional to consider becoming the
new director for IGC. We’re hoping it can be someone from the Sweet Adeline world! We all enjoyed the
classes, the food, seeing our “old friends, and going up on the risers to join a “big chorus” sing some
songs. Maybe some fun was had singing, having some food, playing games, and welcoming other SA into
“our” room too! Plus Martha won a raffle, which is always nice!
