Island Grove Chorus (continued)
DECEMBER
The rush is on! We sang for a Nursing Home in Bridgewater where one of our former members, Judy Wilmot,
is staying. She joined us in some of the familiar Christmas songs, which was fun. Then we had our IGC
Christmas show at Quincy Point Congregational Church, called The Wonderful World of Christmas, which is
also the name of one of our new songs. We also sang another brand new song for us, A Million
Dreams. During the show Julia Hoitt (my granddaughter) sang 3 solos, including O Holy Night, and we also
had The Green Wave Singers, a small group of 11 girls, 10 and 11 years old, who sang 3 cute numbers for
us. Mary O’Loughlin had recruited and taught them the music and choreo. At the end of the concert it was fun
to invite 6 former IGC members from the audience to join us for White Christmas.
Next we sang a concert at Abington High School along with the Abington Community Band and Choir. And
we finished the season with a fun performance at the Blake Estates in Hyde Park.

th
We are starting with our Annual Holiday Party on Jan 7 at Oakpoint in Middleboro where 3 of our members
reside. Then it’s all business, as IGC will be searching for a new director and planning Contest. Mary
O’Loughlin will be in charge as the Interim Director along with some help from Region 1.
THANK YOU
I want to thank everyone in Region 1 who helped me along my Directing days in IGC from the start in 2003, all
the way to 2022. It’s been a tremendously joyful, educational, unbelievably friendly, loving journey filled with
the life changing experience of singing, directing, performing, and teaching our wonderfully challenging
barbershop harmony!
Island Grove Chorus wishes everyone well in their New Year…....may the harmony go on!
