Island Grove Chorus
New Year’s Greetings to All…from Island Grove Chorus!
Island Grove Chorus (IGC) joyfully welcomed our new Director, Yufen Yen, in March, 2022. Ms. Yen,
originally from Taiwan, has earned a Phd. In Music Directorship from the University of Illinois. We are
thrilled to welcome her!
Our Director Yen has enthusiastically embraced the art of women’s barbershop, an art-form new to her.
Meanwhile, her knowledge and considerable expertise in vocal skills, has been helping IGC develop and
prepare for Competition in 2023.
IGC has, of course, resumed in-person rehearsals. In-person rehearsals include BOTH vaccinated and un-
vaccinated members of IGC. IGC had been singing maskless——until a recent flare-up of Covid-19
required four IGC members to stay home/quarantine and the rest of IGC to temporarily don masks again,
alas. Nevertheless, we carry on!
Director Yufen Yen led IGC in song for a recent St. Patrick’s Day performance at a large retirement
community. IGC was delighted to once again “be on the road”——engaged in a community
performance! (See below)
