“A good teacher can inspire hope, ignite the imagination and instils a love of
learning” (Brad Henry). Therefore, an ideal teacher is one who has the tenacity
to thrive in a forever changing world, one who leads, is a role model and one
who learners will one day aspire to be. One cannot deny the pivotal role
education plays in our social spheres. However, this central role means that
education will continue to reflect the social ills that exist within our societies.
Therefore, schools are tasked with the responsibility of producing learners who
are not only socially conscious, tolerant citizens, who embrace diversity and
democracy but also a workforce that will catalyse economic growth and who
will pioneer the 4IR with all the necessary skills.
However, the school cannot achieve all of this without the involvement of
parents and all other stakeholders .Someone once compared education to a
four legged chair that cannot function without any of its legs .Similarly, school
do not exist in isolation, in order to fulfil their purpose all the necessary
stakeholders need to work together in collaboration to ensure effective
teaching and learning, and quality education
