CLASSROOM TECHNOLOGY

Bhukulani is equipped with a variety of technological
resources such as smart boards, white boards,
computers etc. However, teachers are not adequately

trained to utilize these resources. Therefore, these
devices are left unused and learners tend to misuse
them for their personal and entertainment purposes.

MARGINALIZATION OF THE LGBTQI
COMMUNITY

There is a number of learners who belong to the
LGBTQI community and are often discriminated
against by virtue of their sexual orientation. Such

discrimination is a result of stigma and stereotypes
that are perpetuated by learners, teachers and
community members who harbour uninformed
beliefs and assumptions about members of the

LGBTQI community.

LACK OF ROLE-MODELING

A number of male learners lack role models or people
to look up to. Most of them smoke and sell marijuana
within the school’s premises, do not wear uniform, often

reported for late coming and misconduct multiple
times. This kind of misbehaviour is caused by an
underlying emotional problem that have not been

addressed. This can also be caused be situations that

learners find themselves in by being born into families
without father figures or someone they can look up to
or aspire to be.
