Baked Beef Stroganoff Casserole

2 pounds ground chuck
1 medium onion -- chopped
2 cloves garlic -- minced
2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
2 cups sliced mushrooms
1 can beef broth -- (14.5 ounce)
1 can Cream of Mushroom, 98% Fat Free
1 container nonfat sour cream -- (16 ounce)
3/4 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon pepper
8 ounces egg noodles -- cooked and kept warm
2 tablespoons butter
1 small can fried onion rings
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. lightly grease a 13x9x2 inch baking dish.. In
a large pot, cook ground chuck, onion, and garlic over medium heat until
meat is browned and crumbles.. Drain.. Return meat to pot and stir in
Worcestershire, mushrooms, and beef broth.. Bring to a boil, reduce heat,
and simmer for 15 minutes.. Stir in soup, sour cream, salt, and pepper..
Remove from heat.. Combine hot cooked noodles and butter, stirring until
butter melts. Combine noodles and meat sauce.. Spoon into prepared baking
dish.. Bake for 30 minutes.. Top evenly with fried onions and bake for 10
more minutes..
This is an awesome recipe. DH wanted it put in the favorites file asap. --

NOTES : Made this on 12/19/06. It is really good. Brings back memories of
the Betty Crocker's Ground beef Stroganoff for two I used to fix when we
were first married. Les suggested that I try it with non-ground beef. I
might. Also, I didn't add the salt because I mostly never do, but it
needed it. Next time I will put it in a larger pan 15x10) and maybe use more
fried onions.
